(4843) Surface filtration
A filtration method wherein the suspended solid particles are stopped on a two dimensional medium called a ‘sieve’. The corresponding apparatus is the sieve filter. In a disk filter which consists of a stack round, grooved disks each having grooves on both sides, the water is forced between the grooved disks whereby the organic matters or sediments accumulate on the outer face of the stacks discs allowing clean water to flow out of the filter through the stacks disc.
